Where to Start

A short guide to your WaQi access
WaQi (Qi Balance, LLC)

There is more on the platform than anyone needs on day one. This page exists so you do not have to figure out where to begin. Two minutes to read.

The short answer

Come to the live Saturday class, 10 to 11am ET on Zoom.

One class, taught live by Master Yang, and the best place to start whether or not anything currently hurts. A standing hour on the calendar survives a busy week in a way that "I will watch something when I get a chance" usually does not. Everything else on the platform supports this class rather than competing with it.

Setting up your account

  • Go to organization.waqi.health and click Login.

  • If you do not have an account yet, click "signup here," fill in the form, and click Submit. Please use your work email so we can recognise you on our end.

  • Check your inbox for the verification email and click Complete Email Verification. If it has not arrived within a few minutes, look in your spam or junk folder, which is where it usually hides.

  • If you ever forget your password, click "I forgot my password," enter your work email. Check your inbox for reset email and follow the reset instructions.

Registering for the Saturday class

You need to register for each class date in advance. This is the step people miss.

  • From the top menu, click Zoom Classes. You will see a calendar of available classes for this month and next.

  • A red date is open for registration. A green date means you are already registered. A grey date means registration has closed.

  • Register for the dates you want as soon as they open, rather than on Saturday morning.

  • Before your first class, install Zoom on the device you plan to use, and check that it has a working camera and microphone.

  • The evening before class, you will receive a reminder email containing your Zoom link. It comes directly from Zoom, so check spam or promotions if you do not see it. At class time, click that link to join. If it has not arrived by Saturday morning, email support@waqi.health and we will send it to you.

Finding the videos

Click Videos on the top menu to see the programs available to you. Click Watch Videos on a program to open its list of lessons, then Watch Video on the one you want. The plus sign adds a video to your favorites so you can find it again quickly.

About the name

You will see the class called WaQi for Chronic Pain: Back Pain Relief Series. Do not let that turn you away. It is a single class, and the same practice that eases back and neck pain also builds balance and strength and helps with sleep, stress, and energy. Many members come with no pain at all.

What the class asks of you

Nothing you cannot do. This is the part people quietly worry about, so here it is plainly:

  • No experience needed. Most movements are demonstrated both seated and standing, and you can stay seated for as much of the class as you like.

  • You choose how large or small your movements are and how many repetitions you do, and you can change your mind mid-class.

  • You are welcome to hold a stable chair or counter while standing.

  • There is a short lying-down segment. Use a sofa or bed, or simply stay seated.

  • You need a screen and a little space. No travel, no parking, no waiting room.

Why one class covers so much

Back pain rarely comes from one place. Tension, a weak core, poor posture, stress, and restless sleep all feed each other. Rather than treating each one separately, this practice works on the roots they share: posture, core strength, flexibility, balance, and a calm mind.

Each class pairs gentle movement with quiet stillness, drawing on three traditional meditations practiced standing, sitting, and lying down: standing to lengthen the spine and build strength, sitting to steady the mind, and lying down for deeper relaxation and better sleep.

The evidence, briefly

Master Yang developed this method while recovering from his own severe back pain, then tested it. His team's randomized controlled trial in 350 adults with chronic low back pain (mean age 59) found significant improvements in pain, daily function, sleep, and quality of life, published in the North American Spine Society Journal in 2024. A follow-up qualitative study appeared in Global Advances in Integrative Medicine and Health in 2025. His earlier research in older adults examined balance, leg strength, immune function, and cognition.

If you miss a Saturday

The four most recent class recordings are always available to you, 24/7. We post only four on purpose. Each class runs about an hour and carries a lot of material, and we would rather you go deep on the current one than skim a library.

You do not need a free hour to use them. Every recording is broken into labelled segments with times, so you can open one and do ten minutes of standing meditation, or just the lying-down section before bed, and stop there.

The shorter programs

Under Videos you will also find three short self-paced series. They are there for the weeks when an hour is out of reach, and for anything the class does not directly address. Pick one to begin with, not three.

  • Stress and Mood. Around 15 minutes per lesson, pairing sitting meditation with Tai Chi and Qigong, built on an NIH-funded clinical trial. For feeling wound up, reactive, or worn down by the pace of the day.

  • Sound Sleep. 10 to 15 minutes per lesson, combining guided stillness with gentle Qigong, based on an NIH-funded randomized trial. Includes sleep tips from Dr. Ana Krieger of Weill Cornell. For trouble falling asleep or getting back to sleep.

  • Balance. 15 to 20 minutes per lesson, combining standing meditation with a seven-form movement routine, drawn from Master Yang's own research on balance and leg strength. For steadier footing and stronger legs.

How much, how often

  • Start with the Saturday class and stay with it a few weeks before adding anything else.

  • Ten to fifteen minutes on most days does far more than one long session on a Sunday.

  • Attach the practice to something you already do (before your first coffee, after you change out of scrubs, before bed) rather than hunting for a free window.

  • Missing days is normal. Start again the next day. Nothing is lost.

Three practical notes

  • Your access is complimentary. If you ever land on a page asking for payment or a referral code, that is our public consumer site. You do not need it and you should not pay for anything.

  • Each person needs their own account. Please do not share logins, and please do not record or redistribute the classes.

  • Practice at your own pace. Move gently, rest whenever you need to, and stop if anything causes pain or dizziness. If you have health concerns, check with your physician before starting. Every movement can be adapted.
