Where to Start

There is more on this platform than anyone needs on day one. This page exists so you do not have to work out where to begin. Two minutes to read.

The short answer

Start with a live class on Zoom.

Live classes are taught by Master Yang, and they are the best place to begin whether or not anything currently hurts. A standing hour on your calendar survives a busy week in a way that "I will watch something when I get a chance" usually does not. Everything else here supports the live class rather than competing with it.

Click Zoom Classes in the top menu to see what your organization offers.

A note on class names

Some classes are named for the condition they were developed to address. Do not let that turn you away. The same practice that eases back and neck pain also builds balance and strength and helps with sleep, stress, and energy. Many members come with no pain at all.

What a class asks of you

Nothing you cannot do. This is the part people quietly worry about, so here it is plainly:

No experience is needed. Most movements are demonstrated both seated and standing, and you can stay seated for as much of a class as you like.

You choose how large or small your movements are and how many repetitions you do, and you can change your mind mid-class.

You are welcome to hold a stable chair or counter while standing.

There is usually a short lying-down segment. Use a sofa or bed, or simply stay seated.

You need a screen and a little space. No travel, no parking, no waiting room.

If you miss a live class

The four most recent class recordings are always available to you, at any hour. We post only four on purpose. Each class runs about an hour and carries a lot of material, and we would rather you go deep on the current one than skim a library.

You do not need a free hour to use them. Every recording is broken into labelled segments with times, so you can open one and do ten minutes of standing meditation, or just the lying-down section before bed, and stop there.

How much, how often

Start with a live class and stay with it a few weeks before adding anything else.

Ten to fifteen minutes on most days does far more than one long session at the weekend.

Attach the practice to something you already do, before your first coffee or before bed, rather than hunting for a free window.

Missing days is normal. Start again the next day. Nothing is lost.

Two practical notes

Each person needs their own account. Please do not share logins, and please do not record or redistribute the classes.

Practice at your own pace. Move gently, rest whenever you need to, and stop if anything causes pain or dizziness. If you have health concerns, check with your physician before starting. Every movement can be adapted.

The research behind the practice

Master Yang developed this method while recovering from his own severe back pain, then tested it in clinical trials. You can read the studies under Evidence in the top menu.
