Testimonial from Dr. R. P.

I participated in the Tai Chi for Back Pain Relief program in the fall of 2022.

As a medical professional, my daily work involves constant movement—sitting, standing, and placing my body in positions that aggravate lower back pain and musculoskeletal issues. Having experienced sciatica, one of the most debilitating pains of my life, I understood the importance of adopting a long-term approach to healing.

When I learned about this program, I decided to join, though I was initially skeptical. At that time, I was also undergoing physical therapy, and I believe that both approaches together assisted in my initial healing. However, after completing PT, I continued practicing Tai Chi, which became my primary method for managing pain, maintaining mobility, and achieving physical and mental balance.

Through this program, I experienced:

  • A substantial reduction in pain

  • Improved posture and greater flexibility

  • Integration of movement, relaxation, and meditation to address both physical and mental tension

Over time, my need for pain medication decreased. Tai Chi also allowed me to avoid surgery, and I hope to sustain these benefits through continued practice.

Consistent self-care with Tai Chi has helped me stay positive and resilient while managing my musculoskeletal issues. The benefits extend beyond pain relief, enabling me to perform my professional duties effectively while maintaining my overall well-being. The combination of movement, stillness, physical alignment, and relaxation has not only transformed my approach to pain management but also enhanced my ability to sustain long-term health.

I cannot overstate the positive impact this program has had on my physical and mental health, work function, and daily life.
